Eastern Screech Owl
Canon EOS 7D, Sigma 150-600 f5-6.3 contemporary, yn568 EX ii Flash on arca swiss flashbracket, Induro AT 413 Aluminum Alloy tripod
This little owl has been visiting my yard for a couple of years now.
I thought I would get a few pics of it. They only show themselves at night so it wasn't easy, had to manual focus, I could only see the small amount of window light coming from the bay window reflecting in the eyes. I also used a better beamer flash extender, I use this in the day for song birds as a fill flash and it works awesome, the trick is to dial the flash down enough so you don't see the flash effect, just a slight fill. It also puts a catch light in the eyes. But here i had to use full power for night time. The first photo wasn't perfect focus but the second image is.
