 Starting Over

Ok If anyone is even here anymore! I understand that i have not posted anything for almost 10 years, Wow! In 2016 I was working on something in my, well what was my little home studio and I was trying to move my large boom stand that had a 5 foot octobox on it. I was pushing it towards the background and could not see my camera witch was on a tripod and i pushed it over, it hit the ground and every time I turned it on it would just shut off or if it did work it would shut off when trying to focus, other times it would work, it kept doing this and I got so upset that I stopped doing photography. My camera wasn't that expensive, it was the Sony alpha 580 that was not sold in Canada and I had ordered it from B&H in the US, Was around $1000 cad when it first came out. Always Liked canon but I never really had the extra money to change over with lenses, speed lights, flash cords, filters, I mean every thing gets very pricey. So this year I have slowly been working on canon and I said this back then about mirrorless, I don't want it, I do not need all that they come with, I know there are some features like iso and dynamic range but!, I came from SLR's from the 80's, actually 1986 is when I started photography when there was no internet. From the camera store I would buy Books, go to the library and had subscriptions for Photolife magazine and others I can't even remember anymore. Back then ISO was called ASA and the highest I would go was 400 ASA. Sony, when they changed to mirrorless they stopped with their lenses also, so now it is hard to sell my lenses for old dslr's.

But now that mirrorless is what everyone wants now some DSLR's are cheap. I mean I have ordered two cameras from Japan. The 5D Mark ii and the 7D. The 5D was around $500 and had a shutter count of 868 and it had a battery grip. The 7D was $325 had a shutter count of  a little over 20,000 and it had a battery grip. I checked the shutter counts on both when got them and they were exactly what was advertised and in excellent condition. So now I have purchased pretty much all the lenses I need for now, which are the canon 50mm f1.8 stm, canon 70-200 f2.8 L is usm ii, Sigma 24-105 f4 art, Sigma 10-20mm f3.5 and the Sigma 150-600mm f5-6.3 DG OS HSM.So these are what I will be using for now on, unless something changes, but then I will always mention it considering this is all about what I use for photography.

I need to mention also that as of September of 2022 I was diagnosed with Two cancers, One being lung cancer and the other in my lymph nodes, In my neck and chest is where they did biopsies and found cancer. I was forced off work on December 12 and the next day I was getting treatment. All my treatment was every 3 weeks, I did around 5 chemo then immunotherapy till around the end of May. Now here's the thing though, I was having a very hard time with my breathing more and more, it got to the point were i was out of breath just sitting on the couch, I could not make it through the parking lot of the cancer center without having to sit on the bench outside half way between. I told the doctor I had to stop and she said that they usually are not related, I still have no idea what that meant, related to what? She even called me to continue with the treatment explaining that if i stop, the cancer could come back with a vengeance because it was not gone but still just sitting dormant. I was supposed to go for around 2 years and I know that one more treatment or two, would have ended my life. So now is January 2026, I still have problems breathing when I walk but if I can sit for a few minutes I can keep going for short periods. So in June I ended up going to the hospital because I started to what seemed like hyper ventilating and I could not stop it, they had to give me prednisone  to stop it. I was there for 4 days then released and I ended back there after only being home a few hours. So another 4 days and it almost happened again but this time I was able to stop it. I kept getting asked how long have I been drinking, I said I don't drink alcohol. So they did tests and the doctor did a coronary angioplasty thinking he would put a stent in only to find out that I didn't need a stent. So turns out my heart had enlarged from the treatment, it was down to 27% and took a year to get back to 56%, the doctor says my heart condition was secondary meaning something caused my congestive heart failure, I know when in August 2022 when I first went to the doctor I had pain in my right side back. When the tests came back they fount I had a enlarged prostate and partially collapsed bladder, during this visit is when I mentioned my neck was swollen and I noticed it when I was working out, which was also something I was doing everyday after work. Weight training an hour to an hour and a half a day so my heart was fine. I have been working out off and on since I was 16 years of age, I never had breathing or heart problems. So now I'm still on heart meds, I never did get the prostate thing checked because they couldn't get me in till February but by then I was doing cancer treatments, then when I stopped treatments I was already paying for meds out of my pocket with no coverage. The lung doctor had me on the trilogy puffer which by itself is over $250 for a 28 day puffer. I applied for disability they gave cpp at only $850 a month. I applied for the trillium drug benefit program and with both was stated online to call both of these places and never got through to them, I even left messages and nothing. When I was Diagnosed with cancer I had critical illness insurance on my mortgage which did pay off my house but the only way I have survived is through the equity of my house, so now I'm at my limit paying all this and no help from the government, my niece tried gofundme and that barely did anything.

So I'm going to continue to do the things I enjoy doing, like photography. I might not post as much like before but we will see. I also don't know how long I will have this house for so I just want get through the winter.
