Spring Songbirds

I thought I'd take a few songbird photos today, Sunday April 24 2016. I love taking photos of these little birds but I have not had a lot of time lately, so here are a couple for now.

Ok, nothing to creative here. Just me always trying to figure out what to eat. Tired from work so I always grab the quickest thing I can find. This is the view from the inside of my fridge.

I'm looking for people who would be interested in sitting in for photos. Anyone who would like to be a part of the art work I do here. This could be anything from head shots to full length, it is up to you on what you may like. I have ideas but you may also have some of your own that I could work on also, I'm only doing TF work for now.
I would also like to ad that I think I'm done here with the Lonely Teddy series of photos, I didn't seem to get the response I was expecting from it anyways. Besides I have just been looking for something to shoot for now but I will be free evenings and weekends for a while now. Spike's Portrait

Lazy Spike

This is Spike being lazy, what she does most of her time. She lays in the most ridiculous and uncomfortable looking positions you can imagine! She is getting old, approximately 11 years now, so can't say I blame her for not wanting to do a whole lot. Thinking of doing a portrait shot of her today. If I do I'll post it later tonight.

Spike

Spike is a Bearded Dragon. I did this close up of her eye. As I was taking these pics she was looking like she thought I was trying to feed her and she usually tries to stick her tongue out at my fingers so after I was done taking pics of her she ate about 20 crickets and still wants more. I'll take a portrait of her soon to show what she looks like.

Oscar and I

This is of Oscar and I setting up to do the last rose image (below) I always use myself as the subject with setting up the lighting. I used a 5 foot octabox for fill, a 56x12 inch strip box with grid for an edge light. 100 ISO, 1/125, F10 and 26mm focal length. Here I'm holding a remote trigger for the camera.

Equipment and Info

The photos I post here are taken with Sony Cameras, an Alpha 230 and an Alpha 580. I use 18-55mm, 55-200mm kit lenses, a Sigma 150-500mm F5-6.3 DG OS HSM lens, Sigma 10-20mm f/4-5.6 and Minolta 50mm and 28mm prime lenses reversed for close up/macro work, along with a macro bellows and a focusing rail and trigger with a wireless camera remote. My tripods are a Induro A 413 and a manfrotto 190Pro. I also use some other cheaper tripods like a velbon CX 686 and an old blacks metal tripod i bought back in 1986, which still works, I use these for holding various things such as flash units or holding or draping a background on or maybe a laptop stand out in the field. My flash units I use are a minolta 3600 HSD, Vivitar 285 HV, I use a dedicated flash cord for my minolta 3600 flash, a flash wave 2 Wireless radio slave and a couple of optical peanut slaves for the others. I also use a lumiquest soft box for my macro work.
My macro photos or should I say most of my photos are not cropped, I like to get my shots in camera and I rarely do focus stacks, only if I think the photo really could benefit from it but I really don't believe it's true to photography, but if I do I do it manually in photoshop. I do sharpen, saturate and clean up dirty sensor spots but I try to keep it to what I remember the actual subject looked like.
The insects I photograph that I capture, I always release where I found it.
If I photograph an Insect that can sting such as a bee or wasp, I place in a special container that I made for photographing them in, it keeps them and I safe and lets me get close and I can shoot them at different angles.To add to this list as of 2015, for portrait work now and the flash units for insects are 4 Yongnuo YN-560II, 2 Menik SW 400 mono lighs and a Mettle 600 AD mono light with battery pack. Modifiers are a 60 inch Lumahawk octabox, 2 24 inch softboxes and 2 12x56 inch stripboxes with grids. Then of course many more stands, a few air cushioned and some not. Also a reflector stand and 43 inch 5 in one reflector.
